In collaboration with Telefónica, Zitycard is proud to announce the creation of the new "SMART" citizen card for the residents of Castellón. This all-in-one card provides a unique solution for a range of services, from public transportation on urban buses and the Tram, to the bike-sharing system (BiciCás) and even book borrowing at municipal libraries..

The initiative, backed by various departments of the City Council, aims to consolidate diverse services into a single platform. The mayor of the city, Begoña Carrasco, emphasized that this first phase demonstrates the city's ability to advance in digitalization and connect the administration more efficiently with its citizens.

The Department of Citizen Participation and Modernization reported ongoing discussions with the regional government to establish a co-responsibility agreement. This agreement will allow various passes or discounts to be loaded onto the card, benefiting young people, the unemployed, and seniors. Additionally, the card will soon include access to municipal sports facilities, smart lockers, and discounts at local stores.

This initiative reflects Castellón's commitment to modernization and adapting to new technologies, providing more convenience for its citizens. The application for the Citizen Card will be available starting Monday, November 27, and can be requested at the citizen card office, the City Hall, or the Tenencia de Alcaldía. It will also be available for download on mobile devices.

The implementation of the Citizen Card has been made possible thanks to an investment of €344,521, with 50% funded by the European Regional Development Fund as part of Castellón’s Sustainable and Integrated Urban Development Strategy (EDUSI), and the remaining 50% provided by the City Council. This milestone represents a significant step toward a more connected and modern city.
